The Art of Spring Writing

Spring is a time for renewal, transformation, and new beginnings. It’s also a time for your mind to bloom. The winter months are often spent inside, in self-protection mode. Spring is a season for shedding layers. To facilitate transformation and new beginnings, you’ll need to let go of old, unhealthy patterns and embrace new, positive energy.

Childhood Memories

During my childhood in the eastern United States, spring meant the blossoming of the cherry-tree that adorned our front lawn. I have vivid memories of sitting on the grass writing in my journal and feeling the blossoms falling on me and being in awe of nature. The coming of spring also meant bike riding around our suburban neighborhood with a certain amount of freedom. It was also a time when my parents engaged in their annual spring-cleaning ritual, and I was asked to give away any toys or clothes that no longer served me. It was a time for thinking about those in need.

Transformation and Self-Realization

Writing for transformation can bring about a dramatic change in an individual’s physical or psychological well-being. Basically, the path of transformation is becoming aware of, facing, and assuming responsibility for one’s thoughts and feelings.
